The IRS issues refunds, not TurboTax, so we can’t say for sure what’s causing your delay.
There are, however, some common reasons why a refund can be held up.
If your return includes certain credits, forms or offsets, it can take more administrative time to process.
Similarly, if the IRS found any errors, missing info, or if they suspect identity theft or fraud, it can take extra time to review.
It can also be something as simple as a delivery glitch with the mail or your bank.
But if it’s been more than 21 days since you e-filed, or six weeks since you mailed your return, or if the IRS refund status page tells you to, call the IRS to find out where your refund is and to learn more about what’s causing the delay.
